Super Poke Pets

Thank you Facebook for my latest addiction...like a need a virtual pet! Like I need anything else to occupy my time...but I can't help it. These things are so cute. Where else do I get to shop with tons of fake money and have hundreds of friends that want to play with me. My gosh this is the greatest thing to happen to me since...I don't know, the birth of my children maybe? OK, not really...but I like it and it's good, clean, non-brain using fun!

sad days, indeed...

...when the house is quiet because they are gone...I remember how much I like noise. No really, I like noise. Wait, what am I saying? I LOVE noise!

I love the roar of their hearty snickering when they both find something so amusing they can't contain their laughter.

I love hearing, "MOM, COME HERE...YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS!", when it is merely an advertisement for something I am never going to waste my money buying for them b/c they do not need it.

I love the sound of the same Guitar Hero song over and over b/c they are trying to master the "gig" b/c they need the money...LOL.

I love hearing the shower run and the loud SPLAT-SPLAT of the water as they push it out of their hair as they rinse.

I love the sound of love.

Derby Hat Time

There is absolutely nothing I like more about the Derby than the hats. I am a total "hat" girl. I love dressing up! I feel so regal and refined when sporting something atop my head quite possibly the size of a small UFO.

Yes, watching the ponies stirs my heart, but I would rather "people watch" all day. The hubs usually takes me to this hole-in-the-wall place in no man's land to watch the spectacle known as the prime jewel in the triple crown, and I still wear my hat! No one else there does, but rarely have I cared about other folks and their fashion sense.

So, forgive me, if on "Derby Day", I'm the weirdo girl in the redneck-iest bar wearing a hat sipping a drink that I had to explain to the bartender how to make...we are who we are...LOL.

ACT scores and academic standards...

OK, so my genius daughter did not get a 36 on her ACT...and, I was a tad bit upset. Not about her score, but about that fact that she did not do one review for the test.

I do not necessarily believe those things (reviews) can help you raise your scores too much, but I do think they can give you an idea of what to expect on the test, therefore helping you.

Her score was way above fine and way above the score she needs for many of the schools that she will apply to...but I would like to see her at MIT (where she wants to be) instead of somewhere she just has to settle for (like her mother did).

Do not get me wrong here, she is probably smarter than your kid...she is smarter than most kids her age and her maturity level makes up for any test score she could EVER receive...I just want her to DREAM BIG because she can...

Scrapbook Room

The whole reason that we have a 5 bedroom house is for everyone to have their own bedroom and for mr. chad and I to have our own "hobby" rooms.

He is a gamer. so all he needs is a desk, chair and the computer. I, on the other hand, am a scrapbooker...therefore, I need lots of room!

We have been in the house for about 8 months now and I have not scrapbooked ONCE! Well, not in the scrapbook room, anyway. It is remotely organized, but I just need everything in order before I can do anything...and right now it's not in the order that I need it to be.

I have chosen the color and design scheme, but I really need a partner to help me pull it off. Mr. chad is great at so many things, but painting and room design is probably at the bottom of his resume'. I guess, I will have to wait until my best friend, C2, can pencil me in...she is the makeover queen...LOL...when she decides she's going to do something...she doesn't talk about it...she does it.

I need that...my scrapbook room needs that...LOL.

Miranda and Riki...2 of my favorite people!

I was so lucky to be able to meet Riki and Miranda for the weekend in the Cincy area. (Thanks, Mike. The view form the room at night was beautiful.) It was soooo much fun.

Miranda had a dance competition and it was "kind of a big deal". These were Bring It On-esque teams and it was on. Ok, so not that bad, but it was serious and yet still, a lot of fun. I, on the other hand, really like that stuff! I was ready to come home and open a dance school...LOL.

Miranda is 13 going on 30...if she only realized when you get to be 30...you want to be 13--again. (Even if it means you can no longer buy/have cocktails) However, she did her own thing and Riki and I got to spend some time together shopping and hanging out. I miss being able to do that with her. So often, I take for granted the time I spend with Karen, V, or any of my cousins that live around me. So, not only did I appreciate my time with Riki it made me thankful for my time with the others, too.

We talked about trying to get together over the summer, but with kids, everyone is so busy that it rarely happens. I think we will try harder this year, but who knows. The important lesson was that no matter how far away someone is, or how little you may get to see them...love, friendship, and family always prevails in the end.

It was a good weekend.
Thanks girls!

My Grandmother's Home...sadly no more.

No words can express the sadness that has encompassed my family and I today.
Not only did the house where we all grew up and continued to gather yearly burn down, it was no doubt arson and burned by one of our own.
Greed is a horrible attribute!
May God have mercy on their soul because I will never...and I will see it to the end that the person responsible is prosecuted!

Me and the WOZ

Dear Friends and Readers,
It pains me to inform you that Mr. Chad and I are no longer together. After being voted off of Dancing With The Stars last night, and with the heartbreak and utter humiliation that he felt, Steve Wozniak and I have decided to R-U-N-N-O-F-T. Now, we have thought long and hard about this and decided nothing could, or would, change our minds. Don't be concerned with Mr. Chad either, he now has Karina. Aren't we typical?...I took the money, Mr. Chad took the looks.

HAPPY APRIL FOOL'S DAY!!!!

According to Wiki:

The origin of April Fools' Day is obscure. One likely theory is that the modern holiday was first celebrated soon after the adoption of the Gregorian Calendar; the term referred to someone still adhering to the Julian Calendar, which it replaced.[2] In many pre-Christian cultures May Day (May 1) was celebrated as the first day of summer, and signalled the start of the spring planting season. An April Fool was someone who did this prematurely. Another origin is that April 1 was counted the first day of the year in France. When King Charles IX changed that to January 1, some people stayed with April 1. Those who did were called "April Fools" and were taunted by their neighbors.[citation needed] In the eighteenth century the festival was often posited as going back to the times of Noah. An English newspaper article published on April 13th, 1789 said that the day had its origins when he sent the raven off too early, before the waters had receded. He did this on the first day of the Hebrew month that corresponds with April.[3] A possible reference to April Fools' Day can be seen in the Canterbury Tales (ca 1400) in the Nun's Priest's tale, a tale of two fools: Chanticleer and the fox, which took place on March 32nd.[4]
